Social impact investments are investments that aim to create a positive social or environmental impact; as well as a financial return on investment.
We invest in innovative ideas with great teams. Besides our general program, we also have two specialized tracks for financial technology and social impact companies.
We do not have any control interests in your company, and we will not ask for any uncommon investor rights. We want to be viewed as a co-founder, and we expect to have all the same rights as any other co-founder, in compliance to our minority ownership position.
Our team will evaluate your company based on the application materials and provide a funding range of 100-500k EGP.
We don’t ask for much, our equity stake is between 4-8%.
We have three tracks and we are able to invest in up to 30 startups per cycle. This means that each year we are able to invest in up to 60 companies.
Yes. We will not be sharing your application/idea with anyone but our internal evaluation team, so please don’t ask us to sign an NDA.
No, this is not a post-graduation certificate. The accomplishments you achieve through this program are more valuable than any piece of paper. Consider your company your certificate of merit.
Our offering range is the same for all teams. We believe that no startup needs more money at this stage than what we currently offer, we will however work with you to make sure that your budget meets our allocated funding.
Our program officially starts with a 2-day bootcamp. Companies that pass the final selection round are then eligible to participate in our 16-week program.
Yes. We have a fab lab in our facilities specifically for you to build and pioneer your technology and/or your product. While the rent and access to the equipment is free, you will have to purchase the materials you require yourself.
Yes, you may; as long as the new scope is agreed upon by all the stakeholders.
It’s your company, so you’ll be hard at work on your product. It is preferable to work at the Sherketak premises. This way you’ll have direct access to our facilities and team if you need anything. You can however choose to work anywhere else you want. About two or three days a week, we’ll organize informal educational sessions which we do expect you to attend for your own benefit.
We don’t tell you what to do or when to do it, but we create an environment that is crucial to help your startup grow. We’ll also make sure you have many experienced mentors around to help you.
Never! You are now part of the Sherketak family and will continue to receive alumni support. We always work on connecting our teams with potential investors, mentors, corporate partners, press, and more even once they graduate our program.
You will have to relocate out of our co-working space; however, we do help teams find a good location after the program through our broad network and affiliated friends.
Things happen, and you tried. You’ll still have an impressive resume item for your next plan. You will have also met a large number of well-connected people who can help you tremendously with whatever you decide to do next. Hopefully, that translates into running another startup.

Absolutely. We can probably help any startup that hasn't already raised a series “A” round from VCs.
Yes, you most certainly can. We accept companies in various stages of their growth cycle. However if you have revenue generation sources and/or have received previous financing from other institutions, please specify this in your application.
It takes time to process every application fairly and provide a full and detailed review. We will contact you once you have been selected, in order to schedule an interview. We will also let you know if your application was not chosen. Please do not contact us to ask about the status of your application.
Absolutely. We love people who are persistent and passionate about their idea; and we always believe in second chances.
We have found that teams of 2-4 founders are optimal.
We'll consider funding you, but your chances are about ten times better if you find yourself a technical cofounder. We always recommend that you get partners yourself and that you make sure they are the right ones for the job.
While we don’t discount applications just because they have a single founder, it does make things more difficult. We look for great, balanced teams who have a full range of skills. We strongly advise you to seek co-founders who balance your skill-set.
It's much better if you find ones yourself through your friends or connections than introducing you to someone. Teams thrown together for the purpose of initiating a startup usually fall apart under stress. You need a personal connection you’re comfortable working with.
Kindly submit the idea that you are more passionate about and has the highest potential for success. That means one idea, not more.
We interview teams and assess them based on the idea, market size, team’s readiness and approach to execute and build successful companies.
The typical age range we’re expecting of our founders is 21-45 years old, but we would definitely consider founders of all ages.
Yes. We require that you be primarily based in Cairo. This benefits you if you take advantage of the numerous acceleration opportunities, networking possibilities and coaching that we provide. The program is a major commitment, and we expect you to be present for a very intense ride! After the program you can relocate anywhere.
We don’t provide accommodation. However, we will connect you with other teams in the cohort and generally help in pointing you to viable options.
